Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, has resigned from his position, confirming reports of his departure amidst tensions with the Kano State House of Assembly.
His spokesperson, Ibrahim Shuaibu, confirmed the resignation, stating it had been formally communicated.
The resignation comes after the Assembly leveled allegations of misconduct and issues related to his official responsibilities against Gwarzo.
Lawmakers had initiated moves for possible disciplinary action, sparking concerns about a looming political crisis.
Gwarzo’s resignation follows Governor Abba Yusuf’s defection to the All Progressives Congress, triggering significant shifts in the state’s political and administrative structures.
The governor had embarked on changes, including removing the Head of Service and relieving the Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry, citing efforts to reposition the civil service.
