The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has gained ten members in the House of Representatives following a fresh wave of defections ahead of the 2027 elections.
Among those who joined the ADC is George Ozodinobi, the deputy minority whip, who defected from the Labour Party (LP).
He represents the Njikoka/Anaocha/Dunukofia federal constituency of Anambra state.
Other defectors include Harris Okonkwo and Seyi Sowunmi, who also left the LP for the ADC, representing Idemili North/Idemili south federal constituency of Anambra state and Ojo federal constituency of Lagos state, respectively.
Four lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also joined the ADC, including Yaya Bauchi Tongo, Mani Maishinko Katami, Abdussamad Dasuki, and Umar Yusuf Yabo.
The defections are attributed to internal crises in the lawmakers’ former parties.
The ADC has been gaining ground in recent weeks, with several prominent politicians joining the party, including former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.
