Former Kaduna State governorship candidate and ex-House of Representatives member, Isa Mohammed Ashiru, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Ashiru cited the need for a “new political awakening” in Kaduna State, citing worsening insecurity and economic hardship as reasons for his departure.
In a statement, Ashiru highlighted his achievements as a lawmaker, including delivering roads, schools, and water schemes to his constituency.
He emphasized his commitment to public service, saying, “I am not tired. I am not defeated. On the contrary, I am revived on purpose”.
Ashiru’s defection adds to the growing wave of political realignments in Kaduna State and across Nigeria, as politicians switch allegiances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
