Nigeria Super Eagles will take on Poland national football team and Portugal national football team in international friendlies this June as part of preparations for upcoming competitions.
The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the fixtures in a statement issued on Thursday by its Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, describing the matches as key tests for the team.
According to FIFA match agent Jairo Pachon of Eurodata Sport, Nigeria will face Poland on June 3 at the PGE Narodowy Stadium, while the clash against Portugal is scheduled for June 10 at a venue yet to be announced.
Olajire noted that the high-profile encounters would provide the technical crew with an opportunity to evaluate the squad against top European opposition, test new players, and refine tactical approaches.
“These fixtures are very important for us as a team seeking to build momentum and cohesion ahead of major competitions,” he said, expressing confidence that the games would strengthen the squad.
Ahead of the June friendlies, Nigeria will also defend their title at the Unity Cup Tournament in London from May 26 to May 30.
The Super Eagles head into the fixtures on the back of a 2–1 win over Iran and a 2–2 draw against Jordan in recent matches played in Turkey, as they continue to build momentum for a demanding schedule.
The game against Portugal is expected to serve as the European side’s final preparation before the upcoming FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
