The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress has revised its timetable for the 2027 general elections, moving its presidential primary to May 23, 2026.
The adjustment was announced in Abuja on Thursday by the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, after the NWC’s 186th meeting.
According to him, the presidential primary earlier scheduled for May 15 will now hold on May 23, alongside other adjusted dates in the party’s electoral roadmap.

Meseko said the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms remains open to all aspirants, adding that the changes were made to align with the amended constitution, the 2026 Electoral Act, and guidelines from the Independent National Electoral Commission.
He explained that the submission of completed forms has been fixed for May 4, while screening of aspirants across all levels will take place between May 5 and May 9. Presidential screening is scheduled for May 9, with results expected on May 11.

The APC spokesman also noted that primaries will be conducted in phases covering legislative, senatorial, governorship, and presidential elections.
Meseko added that the party will adopt direct and consensus methods for its primaries, in line with electoral laws, stressing that any consensus arrangement must have the agreement of all stakeholders. Where consensus fails, he said, the party will revert to direct primary elections.
He further confirmed that state-level congresses, including those in Zamfara State, will run between April 28 and May 3 as part of preparations for the national exercise.
Meseko assured party members that the APC had updated its membership register and forwarded it to INEC, expressing confidence in the party’s readiness for the 2027 election cycle.
