The All Progressives Congress screening committee for the Rivers State House of Assembly has disqualified 56 aspirants and cleared 33 to contest the party’s primary election.
Committee chairman Muraine Ajibola said only 33 of the 98 aspirants screened between May 9 and 10 met the requirements. The report, dated May 10, was also signed by secretary Ishake Yamawe and member Danjuma Samuel.
All aspirants linked to Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Tonye Cole’s camps were among those disqualified. Notable names from Fubara’s camp who failed the screening include Chijoke Ihunwo, Victor Oko-Jumbo, and Sokari Goodboy.
The committee said those not cleared did not satisfy the screening criteria.
