The All Progressives Congress has postponed its House of Representatives primary election to Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The party announced the change on Thursday in a statement by national publicity secretary Felix Morka. Other dates for the Senate, state House of Assembly, governorship, and presidential primaries remain as earlier scheduled.
Under the revised timetable, the Senate primary will hold on May 18, the state House of Assembly primary on May 20, and the governorship primary on May 21. The presidential primary is set for May 23, 2026.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has endorsed the consensus option ahead of the primaries. He said in a Thursday statement that consensus could help reduce rancour among party members.
