Youth leader Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, says he is waiting for federal government approval to launch a new security outfit called “Iru Ekun Security Network.”
In a statement on Monday, Igboho said the necessary documents for the registered firm have been submitted and approval is expected soon. He explained that the outfit would work to dislodge criminals operating in forests across the South West and would collaborate with the police, Department of State Services, army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other security agencies.
“Iru Ekun,” which means “the tail of a leopard” in Yoruba, is intended to target terrorists, kidnappers, bandits, and other groups threatening rural communities.
Igboho added that he is ready to comply with the executive order signed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to regulate private security groups in the state. He said the measure aligns with efforts to strengthen security and peace in Yorubaland and support agricultural production and food security.
Governor Makinde signed the executive order last Wednesday to create a legal and operational framework for groups offering security-related services in Oyo State.
