Armed bandits attacked Odo-Ere in Yagba West LGA, Kogi State on Monday evening, killing an NSCDC officer and kidnapping his daughter.
The officer, identified only as Mr. Ayo, was shot during the raid. He was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries. The attackers also took his first daughter before escaping.
Residents say the assault threw the community into panic. Many are now worried about worsening insecurity in Odo-Ere and nearby areas. They’re calling on security agencies to act quickly to stop more attacks.
This latest incident adds to a string of kidnappings and violent attacks reported across Kogi and neighboring Kwara State in recent months. As of press time, security authorities had not released an official statement on the killing or abduction.
