Nigeria’s new envoy to Austria, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, has officially taken up duties in Vienna.
Ajimobi landed at Vienna International Airport on Friday, July 3, 2026, and was received at the VIP Wing by Mr. Muyiwa Onifade, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Nigerian Embassy and Permanent Mission. She was also welcomed by embassy staff and members of the Nigerian community in Austria.

Representatives from several diaspora groups turned out for the reception, including the Oduduwa Group, Igbo Cultural Group, Nigeria-Austria Friendship Group, Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), and Nigerian Students in Austria.
“ I am deeply grateful for this heartfelt welcome and look forward to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Nigeria and Austria,” Ajimobi said in a Facebook post announcing her arrival.
Ajimobi is the widow of the late former Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi. She was one of the non-career ambassadors nominated by President Bola Tinubu in November 2025. Her posting, along with 64 other ambassadors-designate and high commissioners, was approved in March 2026.
She will serve as Nigeria’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Austria and to the International Organisations based in Vienna. Her appointment is expected to boost Nigeria’s diplomatic and multilateral engagement in the Austrian capital.
