Power distributor Kenya Power said electricity was back in several regions of Kenya on Thursday, a day after parts of the country were hit by a blackout.
In a statement Wednesday night, the utility said supply had been restored across Mt. Kenya, North Rift, Western, South Nyanza and sections of Nairobi.
Earlier on Wednesday, Kenya Power reported outages affecting Nairobi, the coast, Mt. Kenya and parts of the Central Rift Valley. It added that the rest of Nairobi and the coast would have power restored next.
The blackout is the latest disruption to Kenya’s grid. The country also experienced major nationwide outages in September and December 2024.
Kenya Power serves more than 9.6 million customers across the country, according to its website.
