Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East, reported to the Osun State Police Command on Wednesday after being summoned over a controversial statement that went viral online.
Fadahunsi arrived at the police headquarters in Osogbo around 2pm. The invitation followed a video in which the APC senator was heard addressing supporters in Yoruba and telling them to “kill” members of the Accord Party if they encountered them during elections.
In the clip, he said: “From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them. They have wives and children too.” The remark drew widespread condemnation on social media.
In a letter dated August 11, 2026, police asked the senator to “clarify the circumstances” of the comments allegedly made during an APC campaign in Ilesa.
After the backlash, Fadahunsi said the statement was not literal. He claimed he meant that supporters should defeat Accord “at the ballot box through lawful and peaceful means.”
The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) also reacted, saying Fadahunsi should be held responsible if any violence occurs against Accord members. The council further alleged that the video supports claims that thugs and fake police officers had been brought into Ilase, the senator’s hometown, and into Obokun, Oriade, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Atakumosa East and Atakumosa West LGAs.
Police have not announced any charges following the senator’s appearance.
