The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says more than 1.9 million Permanent Voter Cards have been picked up in Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
In a statement released on Friday, INEC’s Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, said 1,906,390 PVCs have been collected. That accounts for 81.5% of the 2,339,233 voters registered in the state.
The remaining 432,843 cards, about 18.5% of the total, have been handed over to the Central Bank of Nigeria for safekeeping, Haruna noted.
He also disclosed that some voters whose cards were damaged, defaced, or missing requested replacements. According to INEC, 6,101 of those applicants were able to print downloadable versions of their PVCs.
The commission said it has uploaded a breakdown of PVC collection figures by polling unit to its website for public access.
Haruna reiterated that INEC is fully prepared for the August 15 poll.
“The commission reassures political parties, civil society organisations, the media, and the people of Osun State of its commitment to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive election on Saturday, 15th August 2026,” the statement added.
