Officers of the Nigeria Police Force on Friday conducted a route march through major roads in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The exercise involved armed and unarmed personnel and formed part of security preparations to ensure the peaceful conduct of the poll.

The officers moved through strategic areas of the state capital in a show of security readiness, while reassuring residents of the presence of security personnel ahead of the election.

The route march came amid heightened security arrangements across the state, with operatives deployed to strategic locations to maintain law and order before, during and after the election.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission commenced the distribution of non-sensitive electoral materials at its Osogbo Local Government Area office on Ilobu Road on Friday.
The distribution is part of INEC’s preparations for the smooth conduct of Saturday’s election.
Residents across the state are expected to vote for the next governor amid increased security presence and heightened political activities.
