Nigeria and Somalia have discussed measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation in education, security, trade and investment, diaspora management, culture and the creative economy.
The discussions took place in Mogadishu during the presentation of copies of Letters of Credence by Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Kenya, with concurrent accreditation to Somalia, Danlami Ibrahim, to Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Abdi Ali.
The development was disclosed by Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a post on its official X handle on Tuesday.
According to the ministry, the meeting focused on ways to deepen relations between Nigeria and Somalia, particularly in areas that could promote regional stability and economic development.
“The Minister and Ambassador held discussions on strengthening Nigeria-Somalia Bilateral Cooperation for Regional and Economic Growth,” the ministry said.
The two countries identified education, security, trade and investment, diaspora management, culture and the creative economy as key areas for enhanced cooperation.
The engagement is expected to strengthen bilateral ties and create opportunities for greater collaboration between Nigeria and Somalia in areas of mutual interest.
