The Nigerian Army has redeployed several senior generals, including the commander leading the military’s operations against Boko Haram and other terrorist groups in the North-East.
The new postings were approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Army spokesperson, Appolonia Anele.
Under the new arrangement, Major General IA Ajose has been appointed to head Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), the military’s major counter-terrorism operation in the North-East.
Ajose takes over from Major General AE Abubakar, who has been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre (NAHFC), where he will serve as Dean of the Faculty of Operational Research.
The redeployment is part of the Army’s latest leadership changes aimed at strengthening its operational effectiveness and improving ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and insurgency in the country.
