Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Professor Ayodeji Olawunmi Badejo as the new Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, LASU.
The appointment was announced on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, in an official statement.
Prof. Badejo, a Professor of Guidance and Counselling, will be succeeding Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello whose five-year tenure has expired.
According to Omotoso, Prof. Badejo was born on August 4, 1962. He holds a Ph.D. and a M.Ed. in Guidance and Counselling, both obtained from the University of Lagos.
The commissioner noted that the appointment aligns with the state government’s commitment to ensuring continuity in the leadership and administration of the university.
He congratulated the new Vice-Chancellor and expressed optimism that his tenure would further strengthen LASU’s academic standing.
Omotoso also acknowledged the contributions of Prof. Olatunji-Bello during her time in office and wished her well in her retirement.
