The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped in the Latest FIFA Ranking released by the World Football Governing Body, FIFA on Thursday.

The rankings released via the FIFA website show that the Super Eagles who were ranked 28th in the last ranking released on the 15th of February 2024 dropped two places to 30th and are now ranked number three in Africa. The Eagles’ drop to 30th can be traced to the two international friendlies played in March against Ghana and Mali in Marrakech, Morocco.

The Two friendly matches coached by Ex-International, Finidi George defeated Ghana 2-1 on the 22nd of March 2024 at the Stade de Marrakech stadium in Morocco before losing to Mali 2-0 at the same stadium four days later. The Three Times African Champions are currently without a coach as they are still on the search for a new Coach to replace Portuguese, Jose Pesseiro whose contract expired in February 2024. Big Names such as Emmanuel Amunike, Michael Nsien, Augustine Eguaoven, Herve Renard and Toni Conceicao have been mentioned as possible replacements.

In Africa, the Eagles occupy the third spot behind the Atlas Lions of Morocco and the Teranga Lions of Senegal. Morocco are number one in Africa and 13th in the world while Senegal are second on the continent and 17th place in the world.

The next FIFA Ranking will be released on the 20th of June 2024.
