The duo of Nigerian Forwards, Terem Moffi and Moses Simon have been nominated for the Marc-Vivien Foe Award in France.

The award is decorated for the best African Player in the French top-flight, Ligue 1. Terem Moffi, who plays for French Club, Nice scored his 50th goal in the French top flight last weekend and was also nominated for the award last season. Moffi has scored 10 goals in 23 league appearances for Nice this season.

Nantes Forward, Moses Simon scored three goals and six assists in 22 league appearances for Nantes before he was injured on international duty during Nigeria’s 2-0 loss to Mali in March. The winger has been ruled out for club and country for the rest of the season.

Two Nigerian Players have emerged winners of the Marc-Vivien Foe award, former Nigerian Goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen who won it when he was playing for Lille.

Simon and Moffi will compete against nine other players for the award. The Players are Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Marseille), Algerian duo of Nabil Bentaleb (Lille) and Amine Gouiri (Stade Rennes), Morocco’s PSG star, Achraf Hakimi and Senegal’s Lamine Camara (Metz). Last season’s winner and DR Congo’s Chancel Mbemba (Marseille), Ivory Coast’s Oumar Diakite (Reims), Moffi’s Nice teammate, Burundian Youssouf Ndayishimiye and Wilfried Singo of Monaco.

The award winner will be announced on Monday, May 13, 2024.
