Rescue teams continue to search for dozens of construction workers missing after an apartment complex collapsed on Monday in Cape Town.

The collapse occurred in George, about 400 kilometers (250 miles) east of Cape Town on the country’s south coast. At least seven fatalities have been confirmed, with 26 workers rescued so far.

The operation involves a meticulous process, beginning with line analysis to locate voices amidst the rubble. Trained dogs then verify these findings, allowing rescuers to utilize high-tech equipment to pinpoint trapped individuals.

Despite the challenging conditions of working with concrete breakers and drillers, rescuers remain hopeful of finding more survivors.

Rescuers have already brought out five survivors on Tuesday, adding to the 21 rescued on Monday. However, an additional 42 people are still believed to be buried beneath the debris. Authorities remain optimistic after earlier communication with trapped workers, fostering hope for further successful rescues.
