Suspended Minister Betta Edu of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation is set to appear at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, following her suspension by President Bola Tinubu on Monday.

This development comes in the wake of a N585 million disbursement scandal involving her ministry, leading to widespread criticism.

Edu’s predecessor, Sadiya Farouq, faced questioning by the EFCC on allegations of laundering N37.1 billion during her tenure. The Accountant General confirmed non-action on payment requests from Edu’s office. President Tinubu suspended Edu and directed the EFCC Chairman to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the financial transactions of the ministry.

Edu, 37, previously a rising political figure, held positions at both state and national levels before her brief ministerial stint. Her suspension marks one of the shortest tenures for a minister in recent memory.
