Oshoala signs for NWSL Side, Bay Fc

Nigerian striker, Asisat Oshoala has signed for Bay FC in the USA.

Oshoala, who scored 107 goals in 149 appearances for Barcelona, will now continue her footballing career in San Francisco Bay Area of California. The 29-year-old joined Barcelona from Chinese club, Dalian Quanjian in 2019 where she won 5 Leagues,2 Champions Leagues, 4 Super Cups and 3 Queens Cups with the Spanish Club.

The Six times African Player of the Year who began her playing career with Rivers Angels in Nigeria before signing for Liverpool and Arsenal, winning the FA Cup with Arsenal before moving to China said ‘ I spoke with Montoya, the Head Coach earlier and I like the style of play, the style of football he wants to play”.

During the unveiling, the General Manager of Bay FC, Lucy Rushton said that ’Asisat is a proven goal scorer at the most elite levels of World football. She also added that “to have the opportunity to add a player of Asisat’s quality, experience and winning pedigree to our roster is an exciting and important day for the club and the NWSL”.  “She brings a top-class mentality to the field combined with pace and technical ability that allows her to lead the line, while also giving those players around her the license to be creative and thrive in space.”

The reigning Female African Player of the Year contract includes a two-year contract with an option of a further year.
