The announcement of Ighodalo’s triumph came from the esteemed Chairman of the Edo PDP Primary Electoral Committee and Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State.

His expertise in finance and law played a pivotal role in elevating him to the forefront, making him the chosen gubernatorial candidate for the PDP in the forthcoming September 2024 election in Edo State.

“I, therefore, declare Asuelimen Ighodalo the winner of this concluded primary today with a total vote of 577. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen,” Governor Dauda, who is the chief returning officer for the election said.

It is pertinent to mention that Edo Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu also emerged winner of a factional Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election in the State.

Shaibu won the parallel primary election with over 301 votes. Meanwhile, the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led faction of the party is yet to commence its own election as of the time of filing this report.
