Nigerian Afrobeat sensation and music producer, Chisom Faith, widely recognised as Rexxie, found himself in custody in Uganda, as disclosed on his Instagram page this Monday morning.
The ‘KPK’ hitmaker shared that he was detained by Ugandan immigration authorities. Urgently seeking support, Rexxie implored his followers and fellow Nigerians to rally for his release, urging the use of the hashtag “UgandaFreeRexxie.”
He wrote, “I’ve been arrested at the Ugandan Immigration. Pls I need help.”

A recent check on Rexxie’s Instagram revealed his presence in Kenya just three days ago for a performance. Renowned for crafting the Zanku sound and producing hits like Naira Marley’s “Soapy,” “Tesumole,” and the late MohBad’s “KPK,” the Afrobeat artist’s whereabouts shifted to Uganda.
Recalling a similar incident in 2020, the Uganda Police Force detained Nigerian singers Omah Lay and Tems for violating COVID-19 guidelines after their performances at The Big Brunch in Kampala’s Speke Resort on Wavamunno Rd. The artists were eventually freed after spending three days in Ugandan custody.
