Senator Abdul Ningi, Chair of the Senate Committee on Population and representative of PDP for Bauchi Central, faces a three-month suspension from the Senate following allegations of padding N3.7 trillion into the 2024 budget.

The Senate was turbo-charged on Tuesday following the suspension of the senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Abdul Ningi.

A member of the Appropriation Committee in the Senate, Jimoh Ibrahim, moved a motion for Ningi’s suspension for 12 months over misinformation and breach of peace in the National Assembly and the country by extension.

Ibrahim, who represents Ondo South Senatorial District, also moved that the senate should send a note of warning to the Senator representing Kano South Suleiman Kawu for posting inciting information on social media, and demand that he (Kawu) tenders an apology.
