Ghana defeated Uganda to lift the 2023 African Games Men’s Football tournament.
The Host scored just a goal through Thoughts FC forward, Jerry Afriyie which was enough to emerge the champions of the Men’s Football Tournament at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The first half ended goalless despite a very exciting display by both teams with Ghana coming close to getting the opener on different occasions.
Ghana continued to pile pressure on the Ugandans after the break as Afriyie’s effort went wide.
In the 90th minute, Afriyie broke the deadlock with a brilliant strike from the edge of the box to seal the win for the Black Satellites. The Ghanaian team were awarded the Gold Medals after the game with Uganda earning the Silver medals.
Senegal had earlier defeated Congo to win the Bronze medals. The Men’s and Women’s Football Gold tournament were won by Ghana as the women’s defeated Nigeria’s Falconets 2-1on Thursday Night to win the Gold.
