The appointment of Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, as the new Chief of Defence Forces has sparked speculation about his political future. 

In a recent ceremony, Kainerugaba pledged to combat corruption within the military and improve the welfare of soldiers.

Kainerugaba’s previous removal from his post as commander of Uganda’s land forces due to controversial social media posts, including threats towards neighbouring Kenya, raises questions about his suitability for the role. 

Despite controversy, Kainerugaba remains determined to address issues within the military while navigating political expectations.
