The Moroccan Women’s Football Team will be hoping to defeat the Copper Queens of Zambia when they face off on Friday in the First Leg of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Atlas Lionesses of Morocco played in their first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand where they qualified for the last-16, winning 2 matches and losing one in the group stage. They were eliminated by France in the Round of 16 losing 4-0. Zambia will host the North African Team on Friday evening at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium before they travel to Morocco for the second leg on the 9th of April 2024.

Coach of the Morocco Women’s Team, Jorge Vilda says his team is well-equipped to face Zambia tonight. The Spaniard said ”We are excited to be here in Zambia, and we are very ready and motivated to play this team,”.

Vilda was coaching the Spanish senior women’s team that thrashed Zambia 5-0 in the group stages in the World Cup and says though he wasn’t a Morocco coach when they played friendlies against each other, he used these videos to study the Copper Queens game plan.

”Back in September, there were couple of friendly matches that Morocco held. There were very close results but we were able to use those games as an avenue to learn,” added Vilda. The overall winner of the two-legged matches will join Australia, USA and Germany in Group B. The Women’s Football event will kick off on the 25th of July 2024.
