Sports Minister, John Enoh has announced that the new head coach for the Super Eagles will be revealed within the next two weeks.

The position has been vacant since Jose Peseiro’s contract ended in February. Reportedly, the technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has narrowed down their choices to three coaches for the role. The Minister while speaking to AAN said, “I can assure you that the senior national team will have a new coach within the next one to two weeks.” He also emphasized that the NFF has taken their time to ensure a thorough selection process, aiming to secure qualification for the World Cup after a challenging start.

Recalling the Super Eagles’ initial struggles in the World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe last December, Enoh expressed determination to improve their performance. “The campaign for the next World Cup has begun, and our start was not ideal. There’s much ground to cover,” he remarked.

Enoh underscored the significance of Nigeria’s presence at the World Cup, highlighting the disappointment of missing out on the previous edition. He affirmed the NFF’s commitment to avoiding a repeat scenario and ensuring Nigeria’s representation in the upcoming tournament.
