Nigerian Chess Master and Convener of Chess in Slums, Tunde Onakoya has surged past the 58-hour mark in his quest to break the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon.

Tunde posted on his social media handles during the early hours of Saturday, with a photo captioned “Record broken.” But Onakoya isn’t resting on his laurels just yet. With determination burning bright, he declared, “We’re pushing to 60 hours, guys. We’re not stopping yet. Let’s keep going.”

Highlighting the noble cause behind his endurance feat, Onakoya emphasized, “We have a fundraising goal to meet for the education of African children around the world. This is our why – the reason we are doing this.” With unwavering resolve, he rallied his supporters, urging, “Let’s demonstrate to the world the incredible power of love. Together, we can make this happen.”

This remarkable feat by Onakoya eclipses the previous Guinness World Record of 56 hours and 9 minutes, held by Norwegian players, Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad since 2018.
Congratulations!
