The 4th session held in Harare this Sunday is the precursor to the official visit by Kenya’s President, His Excellency Dr William Ruto who is also expected to officially open this year’s edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF).

“This is the 4th session of the joint commission which so far has seen various areas of cooperation being established between Zimbabwe and Kenya and I can say that Kenya remains a willing key partner to develop the economies of our two countries,” according to Zimbabwe’s Permanent Secretary in the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Ambassador Rofina Chikava.

Chikava added that “again, the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is providing opportunities of trade for both countries hence we need to see how we can all benefit from such.”

Kenya’s head of delegation who is the Director for Africa in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs, Ambassador Dennis Mburu said relations between Zimbabwe and Kenya continue to blossom out of the JPCC.

President William Ruto is visiting Zimbabwe and will hold bilateral talks with his Zimbabwean counterparts and besides taking stock of the journey of cooperation traveled so far.

The two Presidents will also discuss issues affecting the African Union such as security and other areas of concern ahead of the official opening of this year’s edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.

Sunday’s session was broken into mini sessions of various committees including economy, energy among others as the two countries continue to establish working relationships to grow their respective economies.
