Nigeria and Atalanta Forward, Ademola Lookman, played a pivotal role in his team’s Coppa Italia semi-final 4-1 triumph over Florentina.

Atalanta entered the match in Bergamo with a deficit, having suffered a 1-0 defeat in the first leg against Florentina. However, their determination was palpable, and they quickly leveled the tie just eight minutes into the game, courtesy of a brilliant bottom-corner finish by Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners past Pietro Terracciano.

The momentum shifted further in Atalanta’s favor in the 53rd minute when Florentina’s Nikola Milenkovic received a red card for a foul on Gianluca Scammaca, denying the Italian a clear goal-scoring opportunity and giving Atalanta the numerical advantage.

In a thrilling turn of events, Florentina managed to equalize the scores, with Lucas Martinez Quarta heading home from a Cristiano Biraghi free-kick. However, Atalanta responded emphatically, with Scammaca showcasing his athleticism with a brilliant acrobatic strike to level the tie once again before Lookman sealed Atalanta’s dominance with a crucial goal in the dying minutes of the ninety, capitalizing on a swift counter-attacking move orchestrated by Gasperini’s men.

Lookman’s influence didn’t end there, as he turned provider for Atalanta’s fourth goal, exhibiting his skill and vision by drawing two defenders towards him before calmly setting up Mario Pasalic for a tap-in, securing Atalanta’s place in the Coppa Italia final. The stage is now set for an electrifying showdown between Atalanta and Juventus at the Olympic Stadium in Rome on May 15th, where both sides will fiercely compete for their only chance at claiming silverware this season.
