Former Ondo State deputy governor Agboola Ajayi announced on Thursday that she would be the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for the state’s November 16 governorship election.
Ajayi won the party’s primary election, which was held at the International Culture and Events Center in Akure, after receiving 264 votes overall out of 621 cast.

Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjajpo, the committee chairman, proclaimed Ajayi the primary winner.
Kolade Akinjo, a former member of the House of Representatives, received 157 votes to finish in second place.
Ajayi will face off against candidates from other parties as well as Lucky Ayedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress.
