South American Nation, Brazil has been voted host for the tenth FIFA Women’s World Cup™ to be held in 2027.

This marks a historic milestone, as Brazil will be the first South American nation to host the tournament. Brazil secured 119 votes, while the joint bid of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany received 78 votes.

This announcement follows the most comprehensive FIFA Women’s World Cup bidding process ever, and for the first time, the host nation was decided through an open vote at the FIFA Congress.
The tournament offers FIFA a significant opportunity to build on the momentum from previous editions, including the record-breaking FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ held in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand in 2023. The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ will be a historic event, marking the tenth iteration of a tournament that has grown significantly since its inception in China PR in 1991. Since then, Sweden, the USA, Germany, Canada, France, and Australia & Aotearoa New Zealand (co-hosts) have each hosted at least one edition.

In 2023, the tournament expanded from 24 to 32 teams, becoming one of the most competitive editions yet. It featured seven nations achieving their first-ever wins, a record-breaking three teams from Africa qualifying for the Round of 16, and teams from all six confederations recording wins for the first time.

Inspired by the 2023 tournament, FIFA anticipates the largest-ever field of participants for the 2027 qualifiers. More debutants, emerging women’s football nations, players, and coaches are expected to make their mark on the tournament, continuing the growth and development of women’s football worldwide.
