Education is a fundamental right and a powerful tool for rehabilitation and reintegration in prison settings. It helps inmates acquire skills, build self-esteem, and develop a positive outlook, enabling them to become productive citizens upon release.

The organisation has a proven track record, having impacted over 2,500 inmates in Lagos, Osun, and Ebonyi states.

The Kano prison education project, the first of its kind in decades in Kano, aims to provide sustainable and adaptable education to inmates.

The organisation has also deployed over 30 well-trained teachers and provided 20 GCE WAEC forms to support the inmates’ educational journey.

Alabidun Mahfuz Mudathir expressed gratitude to the funders, Nigeria Youth Future Funds and Leap Africa, and acknowledged the dedication of the Kano State Volunteers team, led by Abubakar Isa.

He urged the inmates to embrace this opportunity with enthusiasm and dedication, emphasising that education is the key to unlocking their potential and shaping a brighter future.

The organisation also appreciated the support of the PRO of the Kano State Command, Mr. SC Musbahu Lawan, and the Coordinating Officer of the project, Mr. Nasiru Gwale.

In his final speech, Mahfuz reiterated that Inmates Educational Foundation remains committed to empowering lives through education, and this launch marks a significant step forward in their mission
