Just four days after the massacre of fifteen fishermen in the Tumbun Rogo community, the Islamic State – West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists have threatened the residents of Kukawa LGA with death if they do not vacate their communities.
A resident who fled to Maiduguri three hours after receiving the threat disclosed this to reporters.
Speaking anonymously, he recounted that the terrorists gathered residents from various communities in the local government area early Thursday morning, demanding they leave their homes by Saturday or face death.
In response to the threat, many residents began fleeing their communities immediately, some heading to Kross Kauwa while others sought refuge in Monguno.

Kukawa LGA, situated at Lake Chad, is known for its fishing, farming, and other agricultural activities.
Despite being surrounded by Lake Chad and having the presence of Nigerian Army and Navy troops, the area remains vulnerable to insurgent attacks.
Although previously displaced by insurgents, communities such as Kross Kauwa, Baga, Doron-Baga, Kukawa, and Tumbun Rogo were resettled under the administration of Professor Babagana Zulum.
Despite the relative peace and stability restored to the region, Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists continue to target these communities due to the area’s socioeconomic value, exploiting its fishing and farming activities for their survival and financial gain.
