The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday handed over a total of ₦3,936,145,822 recovered from stolen funds to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd).
The presentation was made at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, by the Commission’s Secretary, Mohammed Hammajoda, during a brief ceremony.
In his remarks, Hammajoda reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to combating economic and financial crimes, noting that the recovered funds were obtained through thorough investigations and the exposure of fraudulent activities linked to some individuals within the NNPC.

He added that the Commission remains dedicated to serving the country, emphasizing the sacrifices made by personnel in the course of carrying out their duties with integrity and professionalism.
“On behalf of the EFCC, we will continue to put ourselves on the line to serve over 220 million Nigerians,” he said.
Upon receiving the recovered funds on behalf of NNPC, the Executive Vice President, Downstream, Mumuni Dagazau, expressed appreciation to the EFCC for its efforts, describing the recovery as a demonstration of cooperation and accountability.

Dagazau noted that the NNPC has faced operational challenges over the years but continues to work towards strengthening internal systems. He commended the EFCC for supporting the recovery process and reaffirmed the company’s willingness to continue collaborating with the Commission in the future.
