Enyimba FC secured their first league victory over Rivers United since 2019 with a decisive 4-1 win in Aba.
League Leaders, Enugu Rangers battled to a draw against Sporting Lagos in the NPFL Matchday 34 fixtures. The People’s Elephant climbed to second place with 59 points after a dramatic comeback. Rivers United’s Andy Okpe opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Still, Chijioke Mbaoma’s brace and two more goals from Elijah Akanni sealed the emphatic win, narrowing the gap with league leaders Rangers to just two points.

Rangers maintained their top position despite a challenging goalless draw against Sporting Lagos, who are fighting to avoid relegation. Sporting Lagos sits 16th with 42 points, staying out of the drop zone on goal difference.

Remo Stars, who defeated Kano Pillars the previous day, remain in third place with 59 points. However, they must be cautious of Shooting Stars, who moved to fourth place with 56 points after a 4-0 victory over Abia Warriors in Ibadan.
Lobi Stars’ league ambitions took a hit with a 1-0 loss to Doma United in Gombe, while Plateau United suffered a late 3-2 defeat to Bayelsa United in Yenagoa.

In Kaduna, Niger Tornadoes managed a 1-1 draw against Kwara United. Dehinde Ibrahim gave Kwara United the lead in the 63rd minute, but Bashir Usman equalized for Niger Tornadoes in the 90th minute.
Gombe United failed to capitalize on their home advantage, losing 2-0 to Sunshine Stars. Goals from Promise Awosanmi and Lucky Nwafor in the ninth and 28th minutes respectively propelled Sunshine Stars to 14th place with 43 points.

The weekend’s final fixture is set to take place today in Uyo between Akwa United and Heartland FC, with both teams in desperate need of a win.
