Libyan security authorities have recovered the bodies of 11 more migrants from a mass grave in the southeastern region of Kufra, bringing the total number of bodies found to 39.
The bodies, discovered in 55 graves, showed signs of gunshot wounds, according to the International Organization for Migration. The recovery operation is ongoing, with officials expecting to uncover more graves.
Libya has become a key transit route for migrants fleeing conflict and poverty, with many attempting dangerous journeys across the Sahara and Mediterranean. The discoveries highlight the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region.
