Dr. Tiri Gyan David, the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development at Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State, was tragically killed during a recent bandit assault early Tuesday morning.
The incident unfolded around 1:30 am at Dr. David’s residence in Yarima Quarters, Low-Cost Estate, Dutsinma Local Government Area. Eyewitnesses recounted that the assailants, armed with sophisticated weaponry, stormed the community, firing indiscriminately and instilling fear among residents. In addition to fatally shooting Dr. David, the bandits abducted two of his children.

Katsina Police Command spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the attack, assuring the public that a comprehensive statement on the incident would follow shortly.
Despite ongoing efforts by state authorities and security agencies, Dutsinma remains one of the ten local government areas in Katsina State struggling with persistent banditry, which continues to pose a significant security challenge.
