A severe flood has immersed a community in the Ibeju Lekki Local Government area of Lagos, leaving residents in distress for over two weeks without any intervention from authorities.

Sources informed AAN TV that the flooding is due to the ongoing Lagos State Project, which has prevented the drainage channel at Road 10 Bogije from being opened to the Lagoon.

Residents are grappling with stagnant water both on the streets and in homes, one that has shown no signs of receding. A distressed victim told AAN TV that he attempted to pump some of the water out of the street, but his efforts were futile.

The flood’s severity is such that even jeeps and other heavy vehicles cannot commute effectively, rendering the roads nearly impassable.

This incident is part of a larger pattern of major flooding across various communities in Lagos over the past two weeks. Commuters and motorists have found themselves stranded as roads become rivers, and social media is flooded with footage showing water entering people’s homes.

These developments have sparked widespread outrage and criticism online.

In response to the escalating situation across the State, the Lagos State Ministry of Environment has intensified efforts to address the flooding.
