On a recent visit to the Yunus Emre Institute in Maitama, Abuja, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, encouraged the youth to focus on positive and creative endeavors. The visit was made at the invitation of Mrs. Emine Erdoğan, First Lady of Turkey.

The Yunus Emre Institute, established by the Turkish government, aims to foster cultural exchange and train Nigerians in creative arts. During her visit, Senator Tinubu highlighted the opportunities provided by the centre, urging young artists to believe in their potential and to dream big while valuing the journey from modest beginnings.

Senator Tinubu inspected artworks by Nigerian female artists and expressed her pleasure with their creativity. She also visited a classroom of children from an orphanage benefiting from education funded by the Turkish Embassy, noting the potential for future scholarships similar to those offered by the Republic of Belarus. She suggested that Turkish citizens in Nigeria should also learn local languages to deepen cultural ties.

In her remarks, Senator Tinubu thanked Mrs. Emine Erdoğan for her support of Africa and for hosting the recent OIC High-Level Seminar on Cancer Awareness in Nigeria. She praised the First Lady’s commitment to Africa, describing it as recognizing the continent’s rising significance.

Ambassador to Turkey in Nigeria, Hidayet Bayraktar, welcomed Senator Tinubu and highlighted the growing cultural and educational collaboration between Nigeria and Turkey. He emphasized that Nigerian students learning Turkish would have opportunities to work with Turkish companies, both locally and in Turkey, reflecting a positive outlook for future relations between the two nations.
