In a significant policy update, the Namibian government has unveiled new visa regulations that will take effect on April 1, 2025. These changes aim to streamline the entry process and enhance security measures for international visitors.
Starting next year, visa fees for travelers from non-African Union (AU) member states will increase from N$1,200 to N$1,600 per person, while those from AU member states will continue to pay the existing fee of N$1,200.
To simplify entry procedures, the “visa on arrival form” will be combined with the “arrival form,” and the “departure form” will be discontinued. This adjustment is expected to make the entry and exit process more efficient for visitors.
Deputy Minister Lucia Witbooi highlighted the importance of these updates in a recent video, emphasizing the balance between enhanced security and a welcoming environment for tourists and business travelers.
From April 1, 2025, nationals from 31 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and several European nations, will be required to obtain a visa on arrival to enter Namibia. These nationals must present a return ticket, medical insurance, proof of financial means, no criminal record, and a passport valid for at least six months.
For South African travelers, there are no changes; they will continue to benefit from the existing visa-free travel agreements between Namibia and South Africa.
