In a shocking incident, the district head of Garu Kurama in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Yakubu Jadi, along with six other villagers from Gurzan Kurama, have been abducted by bandits.
The victims include the local Catholic church’s catechist and the district head’s daughter.
The abductions occurred on the night of Friday, August 23rd, according to a statement by the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU). Josiah Abraks, the union’s public relations officer, revealed that the bandits have not yet contacted the families of the victims.
SOKAPU expressed deep concern over the incident, labeling it as unfortunate, alarming, and worrisome. The union has urged security agencies and relevant authorities to intensify efforts to ensure the prompt and safe return of those abducted. Furthermore, it called on the Federal Government to enhance the protection of lives and property across the nation. SOKAPU also advised communities to be more organized and vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
