Nigerian Powerlifter, Esther Nworgu won a silver in the women’s -41kg para powerlifting event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics in France.

Nworgu broke the Paralympic record twice during the competition, first with a lift of 112kg and then with her final lift of 118kg.

Despite her remarkable performance, she was narrowly out lifted by China’s Cui Zhe, who set a new Paralympic Games record with a 119kg lift to take the gold.

Nworgu’s silver is Team Nigeria’s second medal at the Paralympics, following Eniola Bolaji’s bronze in the Women’s Singles SL3 category, where she defeated Ukraine’s Kozyna Oksana with a score of 21-9, 21-9.
