The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, has assured serving corps members that their monthly allowance will be increased once civil servants begin receiving the newly approved minimum wage. He conveyed this assurance during his visits to the Kebbi State Orientation Camp in Dakingari and the Sokoto State Orientation Camp in Wamakko.
General Ahmed highlighted the significant contributions of corps members to the nation’s socio-economic development, emphasizing that their efforts are invaluable. He encouraged the corps members to seize the service year as an opportunity for personal development and to aim for greater achievements in the future.
Additionally, he urged them to take full advantage of the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program, which offers vocational training designed to help them become self-reliant.
This assurance comes in the wake of the federal government’s recent agreement on a new national minimum wage of N70,000, which was passed by the National Assembly and signed into law by President Bola Tinubu.
