Coach of the Nigeria Senior Women’s National Team, Randy Waldrum has submitted his resignation to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) due to personal reasons.

Waldrum, who took charge of Nigeria’s national women’s team in 2020 after the dismissal of Thomas Dennerby, faced a challenging start. His tenure began with a disappointing fourth-place finish at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which raised concerns about his future with the Super Falcons. Despite the initial struggles, the NFF decided to keep faith in him.

Under his leadership, the Super Falcons achieved a notable improvement, advancing to the round of 16 at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. However, his final competition—the 2024 Olympic qualifiers—ended in disappointment, as Nigeria failed to progress beyond the group stage.

Waldrum has now decided to step down, citing family reasons. In a letter, Waldrum explained that his wife’s ongoing health issues have compelled him to resign to care for her.

As of the time of this report, the NFF has not officially confirmed Waldrum’s resignation, though an official statement is expected soon.
