Unfortunately, Lucia Kwenya lost her life at the scene, while Charity Kaseke was rushed to intensive care with life-threatening injuries.

The violent attack has sent shockwaves through the local community, particularly among colleagues and residents who knew the women as dedicated and compassionate caregivers.

Both Kaseke and Kwenya played vital roles in supporting vulnerable individuals, and their sudden loss has left a deep void.

Fellow care workers and community members have expressed profound sadness and outrage, condemning the senseless violence.

West Midlands Police have launched a full investigation into the incident, focusing on the area near Small Heath where the attack occurred between 9 PM and midnight. Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage from that timeframe to come forward and assist with the investigation.

Authorities have encouraged anyone with information to contact them via the non-emergency number 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

The attack has sparked wider conversations about public safety and the vulnerabilities of essential workers in the region.

Community leaders and Zimbabwean diaspora organizations have called for swift justice and enhanced protection measures for frontline healthcare and care workers, who face increasing risks while performing their vital duties.
