A disturbing video has surfaced ahead of the nationwide protests against poor governance set to begin on August 1, showing thugs intimidating market traders on Lagos Island.
The widely circulated footage captures the thugs moving through the market, issuing severe threats to traders if they fail to comply with their demands.
In the video, one individual is heard warning, “Nigerians, you are not the only people hungry. Do not come out on August 1st to protest. Well, if you get the mind to come out, see what will happen to you.”
This incident occurs amid multiple appeals from the government, religious leaders, and civil society organizations to call off the planned protests.
Recall, on Monday July 29, AAN TV reported that there was a ‘Say No to Protest’ demonstration in Lagos Island, a development that sparked nationwide reactions.
