The Nigerian Army has confirmed the death of a notorious terrorist leader, Halilu Buzu, along with a significant number of his fighters.

The operation took place in Mayanchi village, located in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, on Thursday. In a statement released on Friday, the Army detailed that its troops launched an offensive at a known terrorist crossing point in Mayanchi. Upon encountering the soldiers, Buzu and his fighters mounted strong resistance but were ultimately overpowered by the troops’ superior firepower.

The operation led to the recovery of several weapons, including two Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) guns, three PKT guns, five AK-47 rifles, 479 rounds of PKT ammunition, and 366 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition. Additional items seized include 182 rounds of Machine Gun1 ammunition, one RPG bomb, 29 AK-47 magazines, 30 motorcycles, two Android phones, and two Yeekee phones.

The Army also destroyed the terrorists’ camp and is continuing operations in the surrounding area to ensure full control and further dismantle the terrorist network.
